5 OCTOBER 2024 - PRF REVEALS FIVE INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL GRANT AWARDS AHEAD OF THE HEAD OF THE CHARLES REGATTA
Today, 4th October, it is our pleasure to announce that PRF will support FIVE para rowers through its ‘International Travel Grant’ to join the world’s largest three-day rowing competition at the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR), between 18-20 October 2024.
More than 11,000 rowers will gather to compete in Boston, USA where competition will be at its peak following the Paralympics last month.
From those submitting applications, grants have been awarded to Paralympic gold medalists from 2024 and 2021. They include:
Erin Kennedy MBE (cox) Tokyo Paris
Giedrė Rakauskaitė MBE (PR3) Tokyo Paris
Josh O’Brien (PR3) Paris
Ollie Stanhope MBE (PR3) Tokyo
Ellen Buttrick MBE (PR3) Tokyo
We predict competition in Boston will be as fierce as the Paralympic A finals last month.
In 2023, to boost international representation at HOCR, PRF provided travel grants and non-financial assistance to four para rowers, across all three PR classifications, from four different nations so they could compete. The result was sensational competition and even a new course record set by one of the boats.
PRF has supported over 200 athletes from 26 countries since its launch in 2018. We do this through equipment loans or donations, expert coaching, residential intensive training camps, grant funding, and innovative adaptive design of rowing equipment.
